"The best a man can get" dates back
to 1901 when after six years of experimentation, King Camp Gillette was finally able to design and patent the world's
first disposable blade safety razor. Developed with the help of MIT engineer William Nickerson, the new razor used
double-edge blades that were pressed rather than forged, making them thin enough and hard enough to work well yet cheap
enough to be simply replaced once worn out. The new invention reached the market in 1903 with Gillette recording sales of
51 razor sets and 168 blades, rising to an incredible 90,000 razors and 12 million blades the year after!
Gillette has continued at the forefront of shaving technology, with innovations including twin-blade razors, disposables
and its current three-bladed Mach 3 series.
